Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (2024)

Armor sets in Assassin's Creed Valhalla come in all shapes, colors, and fashions, but above everything else, their stats and set bonuses can make or break your game. Whether you prefer stealth, combat, or archery, there are plenty of great options to suit your needs. This is no mere cosmetic decision, and it requires a lot of thought.

Upon its initial release, the game only had a handful of armor sets available, while buffs mostly came from adding runes. Since the release of the major expansions, however, there are now over two dozen sets to collect, and they have a dramatic effect on how you play. Here are some of the very best choices available.

10 Dublin Champion Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (1)

Pieces to this Wolf set can be found from side missions around Ireland, as well as by maxing out your Dublin reputation. With two pieces, you get an increase to ranged and stealth damage, while the full set increases both even further. They're very simple bonuses, but it's hard to complain about massively increased damage.

This set is fantastic because, if you're focused on Wolf gear and abilities, ranged damage should be your primary style of combat. However, there are significant downsides too. The increase to stealth damage isn't nearly as useful, and there are better sets for focusing on stealth or archery.

9 Egyptian Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (2)

Purchased from Azar's shop in Dublin, this Raven set increases your attack during the day with a partial set. The full set increases your overall melee damage, as well as your fire build-up resistance. Combining the attack and overall damage bonuses leads to some impressive results.

The obvious downside to this set is that it doesn't provide any bonuses at night. Although the game makes it easy to switch from night to day, that can get annoying and also reduces your ability to sneak. It's more of an offensive set for the mighty warrior Eivor.

8 Thor's Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (3)

This intimidating armor set can only be found much later in the game, from missions that require extremely high power level. A partial set will give you an increase to speed when stunning an enemy, while the full set simply increases the stun damage you deal.

Ideal for fighting bosses and other tough enemies, the full bonus will help you break their guards more often. Once you do, that first bonus will help you land more attacks during the stun duration. It's a simple 1-2 combo, but there are still plenty more powerful armor sets. Again, it has utility but lacks any defensive bonuses.

7 Byzantine Greek Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (4)

One of the exotic sets sold at Azar's shop, this Wolf set gives the player increased armor after landing critical hits. The full set bonus then increases melee damage and health. These well-rounded buffs make the Byzantine Greek armor the very best Wolf set for melee builds.

The extra armor and health will help your longevity in brutal fights, but none of these effects really synergize as well as some other sets.

Increasing your defensive over offensive stats is also not the best idea for some boss fights that you may want to end as early as possible. With this gear, a lot hinges on your confidence in melee encounters.

6 Mentor's Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (5)

This late game Raven set is found in mid- and high-level areas throughout England. A partial bonus gives you increased attack after landing crits, while the full bonus will also increase your speed. Together, the effect is simple but extremely effective, making you both faster and stronger.

The DPS boost you can get from this set is tremendous, but it's worth noting that Raven sets are generally the lightest and weakest armor sets. So full melee combat builds have to be very careful in their timing if they use Raven gear and skills. Any mistake you may make in battle will be costly when using this powerful set.

5 Thegn's Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (6)

Found in very high level areas scattered across England, this Bear set has some absurdly powerful offensive buffs. With two pieces you'll get an increase to critical chance after parrying. The full set then increases your critical damage. Unsurprisingly, this leads to a huge boost in your damage output.

The only caveat with this set is that it takes quite a bit of practice to master parrying in AC Valhalla. In addition to timing difficulties, not every enemy attack can be parried. Utilizing this set's bonuses, then, can be a bit frustrating at times. You may be adept at taking down large groups of foes quickly, but only with finesse will you feel the benefit of this equipment.

4 Druidic Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (7)

This Raven set can be found in locations all around Ireland, and its partial bonus is good enough on its own to be worth it. Two pieces alone will restore some of your health after landing three consecutive hits on an enemy. If you go for the full set, you'll also get increased melee damage and poison build-up resistance.

Hitting an enemy three times in a row in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is pretty simple, especially with a quick weapon. However, be wary: The health regeneration can also give players a false sense of invulnerability, when actually this Raven set doesn't provide much armor at all.

3 Reaper Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (8)

Acquired from Rebel missions in the Siege of Paris DLC, this Raven set is the best of the best for the traditional assassin. With just two pieces, you'll regain some health after a successful assassination. Even better, the full set will cause time to slow for much longer when you're first spotted by an enemy.

The bonus health regeneration is definitely nice, but that extra window of time can help you sneak around highly guarded areas with ease. As long as you don't stay in someone's line of sight for too long, you'll always reap the benefits of this stealthy gear, if that's your playstyle.

2 Odin the All-Father Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (9)

Pieces of this Wolf set can be purchased in Kana's Domain in Svaladal, as part of the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC. The partial bonus grants a chance to increase adrenaline gain with every weak point hit or headshot, while the full bonus simply increases headshot damage.

This is by far the best armor set for ranged builds, and it's also fantastically designed. It pairs extremely well with any kind of bow: faster, weaker headshots will give you back more adrenaline, while slower, stronger headshots will do ridiculous damage. If archery is your favored approach to combat, this is a natural fit, though it's rather reliant on such.

1 Paladin Armor Set

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 Best Armor Sets, Ranked (10)

Found throughout the Francia map, this Bear set has the best bonuses of any set in the game. Its partial set bonus makes your melee attacks deal much more damage at the cost of higher stamina drain. The full set then charges your adrenaline faster, while your shield blocks take less stamina.

These bonuses all work together to boost your combat abilities to the extreme. While the damage and shield block buffs are great, the real treat is the rapid adrenaline charge. With the full Paladin set, you'll rarely have downtime between unleashing your most powerful abilities. It's just the most all-around powerful and useful option.
